After what seemed like the longest January ever, it’s finally February! It’s a month of love, amazing weather, and the RODEO. “Let’s Rodeo San Antonio” is a common phrase you will hear this month. With so many incredible events happening, we’ve narrowed it down to these 10 awesome things to do in February 2019 in San Antonio!
Adopt a FREE Tree
Spring is just around the corner. Now is the perfect time to get your yard and adopt a FREE tree at Confluence Park on February 23rd. The San Antonio’s Parks and Recreation Department will supply 1 gallon native trees that need your love and care to grow and join the vibrant canopy which makes San Antonio a beautiful. Western Heritage Parade & Cattle Drive
You can call yourself a true Texan after watching cattle and longhorn being driven down the streets of downtown. This free event on February 2nd helps kick-off the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo. The parade route begins under I-35 on W Houston Street and runs through the streets of downtown San Antonio. The parade features participants who represent the heritage of our Lone Star State and the Old West.
The Stock Show Stampede 5K Run/Walk at La Villita
Want to get a run in before the Western Heritage Parade? The Stampede race happens on the same parade route. After partaking in the Stampede, you don’t want to miss the Chuck Wagon Breakfast, great entertainment at La Villita and the first ever Vaquero Cook-Off after the parade. Free Family Night at the Doseum
The first Tuesday of every month is free family night. Wristbands will be given out at 4 pm at the entrance. Wristbands guarantee entrance for Free family Night. If you haven’t been to the Doseum with your kids, this place is a must. My kids love the little people area and the spy area. There are so many fun things inside and outside the museum to do. You won’t regret coming here.
ACMB Annual Mom’s Night Out
Everyone needs a night out to have fun. ACMB will host it’s annual Mom’s Night Out on February 8th. You will enjoy activities, food, drinks, a DJ, mini services, giveaways and more! I went to one a couple years ago. It was a fun night out with friends. I definitely would go again. Tickets usually go pretty fast. So grab yours soon.
Movie in the Park
Grab a blanket, pop your own popcorn, and join others at the Tower of Americas downtown for a family-friendly movie in the park. This event is FREE and starts at dark. You can check out their movie schedule here.
Parade of Lanterns
For two weeks, ten, 26-foot long floats carrying magically-illuminated lanterns such as a dragon, adorable pandas, pinatas, etc. This free event runs February 9-23, 2019 from 7:00-9:00 PM each night. Enjoy the magically illuminated floats from anywhere along the downtown portion of the River Walk. You can book a table at one of the restaurants with patio seating. It’s a great time to have dinner or drinks while enjoying the floats which run continuously from 7-9 PM.
San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo
There are so many fun events that happen with the Rodeo. There are concerts, special events, horse shows, shopping, livestock shows, carnival food, rodeos, and more. The Cattle Drive is one of my favorites to begin the month, but I love taking my kids on dollar days and exploring the grounds and ride some of the carnival rides. This is a MUST do for February. I am super excited to see some of my favorite entertainers.
El Taco Run 5K
Need to get in another race? Try the Third Annual El Taco 5K Run on February 23rd. The race will start and finish at the oldest post in Texas the VFW Post 76, The race route will run through the San Antonio river walk and Brackenridge Park.
Here We Grow Again Consignment
Shop over 60,000 items for your little one this Spring. You can sell your items as well as shop for new ones. This event is Feb 22nd thru 25th. Check out their Facebook event for more details on how to sell and shop.
