2020 Blogging Goals to Turn Your Blog into a Full Time Career

2020 Blogging Goals to Turn Your Blog into a Full Time Career

With the new year comes the desire to set and achieve new goals. In fact, I love this time of year of reflection and goal setting, but here is the thing. It is so easy to create goals, try them out for a few weeks and fail to follow through. What’s the point of having goals if you aren’t going to follow through? What is it going to cost you to not invest in yourself? To keep putting your goals off? Long term, it will cost your happiness, your fulfillment, your joy. Is it really worth it? This is your year. I just know it. Let’s look at your goals and start making money blogging.

6 Blogging Goals to Turn Your Blog into a Full Time Career

1. Believe You Can

::In order to manifest it, you must believe in it::

I’m a true believer of making your dreams into goals, and pursing it. If you’re constantly saying to yourself “There’s no way I can turn my blog into a career.” then you are right, you probably won’t. BUT… if you start believing that YOU CAN turn your blog into a career and start making money blogging, you manifest it into your life. I am a huge believer in the law of attraction. You can attract anything you want into your life. Positivity attracts positivity. Start believing in yourself and your mind will attract success.

2. Go Self Hosted

Here are some reasons why I am switching over.

Faster server speed – which means my site load time was faster than when it was on a free platform.

Limitless customization – I could upload my own themes, customize my site however I wanted, add HTML, have access to hundreds of plug ins, create an e-mail list and so much more.

No restrictions – Sometimes on free hosted platforms your monetization is restricted to their set terms. When you are self hosted you don’t have to worry about those limitations.

Complete ownership of your website – Being self hosted means YOU own your site, no one else! If you are on wordpress .com, wix, squarespace, blogger etc. they have ownership over your blog too. If their sites go down, you go down with them! You don’t want to risk losing your content. (in my opinion) You’ll get a custom domain which looks a lot more professional than www.yoursite.blogger.com

There are so many benefits to having a self hosted website! Many are skeptical because they fear they will be alone in the process. If you use a good self host, you will have access to a support team that helps you through ANY difficulties!

3. Use Pinterest

If you haven’t heard yet, Pinterest is a great way to get traffic. Consequently, there are strategies you can implement to grow your traffic and even your affiliate sales which will in turn help you earn more money blogging. If you haven’t invested in Tailwind yet to help you grow your Pinterest and blog traffic, it is definitely something to look into. Tailwind is a pin scheduling tool that will save you precious time by pinning pins for you. I highly suggest it. Tailwind has been a life saver for me.

4. Strategically Face Your #1 Enemy – Burnout

Successful mombloggers know that they’re only limit is their capacity. Start treating your time and your health as a priority if you want to be successful long-term.

Instead of burning the midnight oil, start looking for ways to get more traction for your work. In other words, work to get more people to see less posts.  This will help you gain traffic and brand awareness while also protecting you from getting burnout.

It’s more important that you create quality content that grows your brand than it is to pump out a post a day. It’s just like exercising; if you stay consistent you’ll grow a healthy and strong base of fans.

Combat this by implementing the following: creating a list of tasks, cut out distractions, reward yourself with a 5 minute break when you finish up a task, and set a timer for the tasks. If you need more ideas, check out this post about finding balance between momlife and blogging life.

5. Get a Branded Look

Part of being full time is looking and being professional. There is nothing better than having a “branded” appeal to your blog. This means having a font and color scheme you use on your blog and social media to give it a cohesive look. It makes your blog more appealing to the eyes and looks more organized.

It can be a huge turn off to readers and brands if your blog and social media are all over the place. I promise this will really help with attracting those reads and brands you’ve been dying for. You can use canva to create blog graphics, logos, and help with your overall theme.

7. Content is King

Have you ever read a really good book, or blog post and you just can’t stop reading? Perfecting the art of storytelling in a witty, honest, heartfelt way is a great way to attract brands and followers.

No one wants to read something that is bland and has no thought to it.  So, why are you putting out content that is subpar?  Creating an inspiring scene with your words and photos will not only keep your readers engaged, it will have them begging for more.

Being consistent with your content is important. This helps build a trusting & buying audience when you are being consistent! They know they can depend on you for good content and great value.

8. Get Paid to Blog

You’ve heard the phrase “not to put all your eggs in one basket”. The same goes for monetizing. There are so many ways you can monetize your blog from Affiliate Marketing to Ads, Working with Brands to Guest Posting and selling services/products. It is important to use several different ways to monetize your blog.

Blogging as a career is hard work. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise! I won’t sugar coat a thing, I spend my days creating, engaging, and brainstorming. I love every minute of it.
