Momprenuer Tip || How To Be Productive and Get the Most Out of Your Time
When you’re working from home, it can be hard finding time to dedicate to your business. There are always a million different things on your to-do list to take your time away and diminish your productivity. When Snippykit Boutique first started, I tried desperately to find that precious time. It was usually when the kids were napping or playing independently.
Look at your schedule and figure out when you can have this precious time to dedicate to your business. Did you find it? Set aside this time on your calendar that you know you have. To start out, let’s try to set aside at least an hour aside. With the right mindset, you can get so much done. Lets talk about how you can maximize your productivity in this precious amount of time.
Nothing else will transform your business. Look at your to-do list and do the things that will move the needle for the long run. Be strategic about what is most important. Your priorities will shift overtime. That is perfectly fine, but focus on things that will help your business in the long run.
2. Put Away Distractions and Focus
Put away your phone, get off of social media, don’t keep your email up, and put away anything else that serves as a distraction. I think sometimes when something is hard or important we try to find distractions, because deep down we don’t want to fail at it. Failure is just another way for us to grow as business owners, but that is a topic for another day.
3. Complete One Task at a Time
Multi-tasking is counter productive. Once you get the flow of one item, you are switching to another. It can take our brain a few minutes to switch gears. Work on items until completion. Finish 1 task, get it out the door, and move to the next. It might be helpful to seperate your tasks to ones that need your complete focus and ones that you need less focus and can have distractions to complete. It won’t be 100% all the time, but that’s okay.
4. Measure the Results
Measure the results of what you do and the time it takes you to do it. Track your time after a few weeks and know where it is going. This will help you decide if the certain task is productive and worth doing.
For me one of the hardest thing as a momprenuer was actually working during my precious time. It was so easy to grab a snack, sit on the couch, and decompress. Once I changed my mind set, I would give myself a few seconds to breathe and headed right to work. It made all the difference in getting things done.
