Things to do in San Antonio – Explore Tejas Rodeo
San Antonio is filled with plenty of family friendly things to do, but if you’re looking for a night away from the city, the Tejas Rodeo is the perfect for you. This rodeo is a hidden gem in Bulverde Texas which is just north of San Antonio.
The Tejas Rodeo will give you the authentic, small town feel without going too far away. The Tejas Rodeo season runs every Saturday night in March through November. This means you can enjoy it again and again with the family all year round.
What I love about the Tejas Rodeo is the size of it. It isn’t the biggest rodeo out there, but I love the small authentic feel. Because this arena is smaller, you’ll want to get there early enough to get a good seat.
This rodeo is a good bit of fun and absolutely worth the price of admission. My kids love to watch the barrel racing and bucking bronco. It also has all the basics and mutton busting, of course.
Speaking of mutton busting, if you have a younger child you can sign them up to participate in the mutton busting. My kids loved going out there riding the sheep. You can check out their website to see what the requirements are to participate.
Don’t worry about picking up dinner beforehand. Drinks and snacks are reasonably priced as there are plenty of vendors to choose from. We usually grab the kids a fun treat and drink.
If you like dancing, than you are in for a real treat. My absolute favorite part is you can hang around afterwards for the live band and dancing. There is usually a good crowd that stays afterwards.
If you’re new to San Antonio or just passing through, be sure to stop at the Tejas Rodeo. Click the link below to head to their website for ticket information.
