Family travel can be stressful with a ton of work, but there are several benefits to taking a trip together. There are plenty of reasons why couples should get away too, but for this post let’s talk about 7 reasons why you need to take a vacation with your family as much as you can.
Being in nature, sunshine, and fresh air are all natural stress relievers and mood lifters. When we travel as a family, we set ourselves free from schedules and electronic devices to do the things we love: staying up late watching movies, swimming, hiking, chilling on the beach– all of those things we don’t get to do so much back home.
Try New Things
When you travel you usually step out of your comfort zone to try new things. Whether that is canoeing for the first time, camping under the stars, or trying out a new theme park ride. Trying new things helps you relieve stress and make fun memories together.
Get Yourself Out of a Rut
Do you ever just feel like you’re running in circles or spinning your wheels and you’re not even sure what you’re really about anymore? Kids can feel like that too (just ask your teenagers). Time away can give us the perspective we need. Family travel can help us see where we’d like to grow and some new habits we might want to pick up.
Builds a Sense of Adventure
There is something about the awe and wonder when traveling with children. They see things differently then we as adults do. I believe to lead our kids by example. Getting away together helps build that same sense of adventure. Let your kids learn to ask for help in a different language, or ask questions at the museum. Teach them how to order for themselves at a new restaurant. Give your kids time to climb, scramble, and explore. Family travel is one more way our kids learn to be confident about who they are and what they are capable of doing no matter their surroundings.
Build Family Relationships Thru Travel
There are many ways you can connect and make memories with your family. Taking a vacation is one the rise as one of the best ways to connect. Travel with kids needn’t be a hassle and can be affordable. In fact, it can be one of the best experiences you have as a family. The key to a smooth family vacation when traveling with kids are to pay attention to their needs, and find the right balance between rest time and activities among other tips.
Taking a family vacation will not only build family relationships, but it will help create fun, lasting memories. Around our house, you’ll hear us recalling magical memories like “Do you remember when we went hiking through the mountains” Or the not-so-fun memories… “Remember when you two wouldn’t stop arguing who got to sit by the window on the train?” Not all trips go perfectly every time. So the good and bad memories happen while on trips together.
Our Children Grow So Quickly
Am I the only who feels like just yesterday our kids were just babies and toddlers?! Time goes by so quickly. Take advantage of this time and spend the time with your family. They want your attention more than they want things. There is only a small window of opportunity to see the magic in their eyes when they see the castle at Disneyland for the first time, or the excitement of seeing the twinkly x-mas lights in an ice castle.
If you love to travel, then take your kids with you. We are making memories of a lifetime and have no regrets. If you set your mind to this you can do this too! If you think it will be too expensive then you need to put together a travel budget. Check out this post for more information.
